#6 HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY UPENDS #2 DOMINICAN COLLEGE CHARGERS SOCCER
Philadelphia, PA (11/6/08) The sixth seeded Holy Family University Tigers defeated the second seeded Dominican College Chargers in the semi-finals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer tournament which was held at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School this afternoon.
Philadelphia, PA (11/6/08) The sixth seeded Holy Family University Tigers defeated the second seeded Dominican College Chargers in the semi-finals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer tournament which was held at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School this afternoon.
The Tigers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Tim Weglicki dribbled around the DC keeper for the game opening goal off the double assist by Matt Kocher and Tim Dugan just thirty seconds into the game.
Holy Family University took a 2-0 lead at 15:46 when Dugan netted a goal off the assist by Kocher.
The Chargers got on the board at 77:30 when junior Dan Kelly (Massapequa Park, NY) netted an unassisted goal to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Tigers regained a two goal advanted at 83:09 when Weglicki netted his second goal of the game which propelled Holy Family University to the 3-1 upset.
Charger keeper Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) made four saves, while Tiger keeper Chuck Bernard had seven saves in the victory.
DC outshot Holy Family 13-3 in the second half and 24-10 overall, while also having a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Dominican falls to 11-4-2 on the season with the loss.
With the victory Holy Family University improves to 9-11-1 overall and advances to the CACC Championships against #4 Post University which will be held on Saturday night at Plynouth-Whitemarsh High School. Game time is set for 8pm.
