FIVE MEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS RECEIVE ALL-CACC HONORS
Orangeburg, NY (11/4/08) Five players from the Dominican College men's soccer team received All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honors as was announced by the conference office today. The conference's 11 head coaches conducted the voting for the awards.
Orangeburg, NY (11/4/08) Five players from the Dominican College men's soccer team received All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honors as was announced by the conference office today. The conference's 12 head coaches conducted the voting for the awards.
Craig Simpson, Diego Barahona, and Joe Wright were All-CACC First Team selections, while Brandon Heembrock and James Hamilton earned All-CACC Second Team honors. Fellow teammates Chris Wylie and Edwin Miranda received All-CACC Honorable Mention honors.
Wright, a junior foward from Stratford-Upon-Avon,
England, has scored 12 goals and 3 assists for a total of 27 points
in 12 games this season. He suffered a season ending injury
on 10/11 against Philadelphia University. He ranks sixth in
the CACC in shots, third in shots per game, tied for sixth in
points, first in points per game, tied for third in goals and first
in goals per game.
Simpson, a sophomore defender from Perth,
Australia, has started all 16 games for the Chargers this season
and has recorded one assist. He's helped limit opponents to
16 goals on the season.
Barahona, a senior midfielder from Stamford, CT,
has also started all 16 games this season and has three goals and
tied for the team lead with four assists. He is tied for
eighth in the CACC in assists.
Heembrock, who hails from Ottawa, Canada, has
been the starting keeper for the Chargers all season. He has
record 67 saves for a .807 save percentage and has allowed 16 goals
for a 1.00 GAA. He leads the CACC in GAA and is second in
save percentage, ninth in saves and saves per game and tied for
first in shut outs.
Hamilton, a junior midfielder from Paisley,
Scotland, is one of DC's captains this year. He is second on
the team with 8 goals and three assists for a total of 19
points. He ranks eighth in the CACC in shots, seventh in
shots per game and tied for tenth in points per game.
Wylie, a sophmore defender from Perth, Australia
has also started all 16 games in the Charger defense and
Miranda is third on the team with five goals and
four assists in 15 games.
