North Andover, MA (9/14/08) The Merrimack College Warriors soccer team, ranked eight in the nation and first in the East Region, snapped a two game winless streak with a 3-0 victory over the Dominican College Chargers in the final game of the Merrimack College Invitational this afternoon.

Merrimack struck early and often as Wayne Sygrove (Yorkshire, England) one-timed a pass from Matt Sanderson (Saugus, MA) past a sprawling Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, ON) for his fourth of the season. Just 3:30 later, freshman Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, ON) intercepted a pass from a Dominican defender and buried a breakaway for his team-leading fifth of the year.

Senior Eric Gomes (Stoughton, MA) put the game away, heading in a corner off the boot of Sanderson for his first of the season.

The hosts dominated throughout, firing 10 shots-on-goal to Dominican's one. After getting yesterday's game off, goalkeeper Rob Pedra (South Hamilton, MA) earned his second shutout with one save, as the Warrior defense limited the Chargers' opportunities.

Heembrock had seven saves in the loss.

With the loss the Chargers drop to 3-2 on the season and posted a 1-1 record at the Merrimack College Invitational.

The Chargers are back in action on Wednesday when they host Mercy College in a non-conference game slated to begin at 3pm at Torne Valley Sports Complex.
