CHARGER SOCCER DOMINATES GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE

Blauvelt, NY (10/13/07) The Dominican College men's soccer dominated Goldey-Beacom College, 7-1 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer action at Goldey-Beacom College.

The Chargers took a 3-0 lead in the first half as senior Jhonny Arteaga (Stamford, CT) netted a goal off the assist by Diego Barahona (Stamford, CT) at 19:24.  Arteaga followed with a second goal at 25:48 to give DC a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore James Hamilton (Renfrewshire, Scotland) converted a penalty kick late in the first half to make the score 3-0.

Early in the second half senior Ryan Clancy (Pine Bush, NY) connected for a goal off the dish by Arteaga to give the Chargers a 4-0 lead.  Arteaga then scored his third goal of the game at 53:58 as Joseph Ruesgen (Campbeltown, Scotland) set him up with the pass.

Goldey-Beacom College got on the board at 55:12 when Chris Casey found the net off the pass by Xolani Muwalo to make the score 5-1.

Clancy netted his second goal of the game thirty-two seconds later from twenty yards out to extend the lead to 6-1.  Senior Diego Miranda (Stamford, CT) netted the game's final score at 59:31 for the final 7-1 victory for the Chargers.

Chargers keeper Robert Kelly (Kearny, NJ) had four saves in the win, while GBC keeper Garrett Shuler had three saves and Rob Garofalo had eight saves.

With the win, Dominican improves to 9-2-5 overall and 7-0-1 in the CACC, while GBC falls to 1-13-2 overall and 1-4-2 in the CACC. 

Dominican is back in action on Tuesday, October 23rd when they travel to Bloomsburg University in a non-conference game scheduled for 6pm.
