ARTEAGA NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR MEN'S SOCCER

New Haven, CT (10/1/07) Jhonny Arteaga of Dominican College has been named Men's Soccer Player of the Week in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 30. Brian Broderick of Caldwell College and Godlove Takyi of Felician College share Rookie of the Week accolades.

 Arteaga, a 5-11 senior forward from Stamford, CT, netted all three of the Charger goals this week in a 2-1 road win at Post and a 1-1 tie at Southern Connecticut State. Arteaga was also named CACC Player of the Week on Sept. 4.

Broderick, a freshman midfielder from West Keansburg, NJ, scored two goals against Post in a 3-1 victory on Tuesday. Takyi, a freshman forward from Hackensack, NJ, also netted two goals for the week. He scored one goal against both Wilmington and Nyack.

Honorable Mention

Sargbah Tarpeh, Wilmington (So., F, Philadelphia, PA) - Scored three goals for the week, including two against Chestnut Hill.

Augustine Aguilera, Wilmington (Jr., M, El Paso, TX) - Netted three goals for the week, with two coming against Felician.

Chad Bennett, Caldwell (Jr., F, Kingston, Jamaica) - Scored two goals in a 2-0 week. Registered the game-winner against Post.

CACC Men's Soccer Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars were ranked 10th in last week's NSCAA New England Region Poll, released on Sept. 24. Wins over conference foes Post and Goldey-Beacom last week kept the Cougars unbeaten in the CACC at 4-0. Heading into a meeting with Dominican on Oct. 3, Caldwell has won six of its last seven games.

Felician - Felician has scored seven goals in its last three games after tallying six times in its first nine matches.
