Three Charger Soccer Players Named To Daktronics All-New England Region Teams
Blauvelt, NY (11/15/06) Three Dominican College mens soccer players were named to the 2006 Daktronics All-New England Region Teams which were released yesterday. Juniors Ryan Clancy and Joe Ruesgan were named to the First Team, while goalkeeper Robert Kelly received Second Team honors.

Blauvelt, NY (11/15/06) Three Dominican College men's soccer players were named to the 2006 Daktronics All-New England Region Teams which were released yesterday. Juniors Ryan Clancy and Joe Ruesgan were named to the First Team, while goalkeeper Robert Kelly received Second Team honors.
Clancy, a native of Pine Bush, NY, led the Chargers
in both goals (9) and assists (12) this season. He was named
to the All-CACC First Team for the second straight year and also to
the All-CACC Tournament Team for the third straight year. He
was the CACC Tournament MVP for the second time in his career after
scoring the game winning goal against Post University in the CACC
Championship game. Clancy is also one of
this year's team captains and started in all 19 games this season.
He ranked first in the CACC in game-winning goals and assists,
second in points and fifth in goals
Ruesgan, who hails from Campbeltown, Scotland, was
a key component of the Charger defense who posted eight shut outs
this year. He scored three goals and had five assists on the
season and was named to the All-CACC First Team and to the All-CACC
Tournament Team. He started every game this season and was a
team captain.
Kelly, the starting keeper for the last two
seasons, is from Kearny, NJ. He started every game in goal
this season and had an 0.93 goals against average. He was
ranked first in the CACC in goals against average, ninth in saves,
eighth in goals against average and first in shut outs.
The Chargers posted a 12-4-3 record this season after wining their third consecutive CACC Title. They were ranked third in the New-England Region and #22 in the country before falling to #13 Southern Connecticut State University, 2-1 in the NCAA New England Regional Semi-Final game.
