Blauvelt, NY (2/24/05) Dominican College Athletic Director, Joe Clinton, has announced the hiring of John Campbell as the new head men’s soccer coach.

Campbell has spent the last five years coaching on the collegiate level. He was the assistant women’s soccer coach at Binghamton University for three years and then moved onto Bloomsburg University as an assistant men’s coach. He spent this past year as the assistant men’s coach at Division I Bucknell University. At Bucknell, Campbell was responsible for recruiting, travel arrangement, practice management, game management and match analysis.

He spent his collegiate career at Green Mountain College and then at Roberts Wesleyan College. At Green Mountain, he led the team in assists and was second in goals. He retains the school record for goals in a single game. At Roberts Wesleyan, he led the team in goals and total scoring. His team won back-to-back Conference and Regional Champions and also made NAIA National Tournament appearances in 1998 and 1999.

After college, he played one year in the Professional Development League with the Vermont Voltage. He led the team to the conference semi-finals that season. He also currently owns and directs the NICETOUCH Soccer camp.

The Dominican College men’s soccer team had a very successful year, winning both the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The Chargers then went on to win the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament Championship and finished with a 15-6-1 record under former Head Coach Michael Swanwick. Swanwick resigned in December to take a position as the head men’s coach at Division I Manhattan College.
