Blauvelt, NY (12/15/05) Dominican College men’s soccer coach, John Campbell, has been named the 2005 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II New England Region Coach of the Year, as was announced by the NSCAA today.

“This is a wonderful honor and I am overjoyed that I was chosen as the New England Region Coach of the Year,” Campbell said. “This award reflects the hard work and dedication of the team and I am proud to be their coach.”
In his first year as the Chargers head coach, Campbell led the team to an 18-2 record and a perfect 8-0 record in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). DC won their second straight CACC Regular Season and Tournament Championships and advanced to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament. Their NCAA Tournament appearance marks the first for any team in school history.
“John’s knowledge of the game of soccer is outstanding,” said Dominican College Athletic Director, Joe Clinton. “It’s an honor that is well deserved for all the hard work he put in this year. John did an incredible job of blending the new players in with the veterans on the team.”
Dominican was ranked both regionally and nationally throughout the 2006 season. They finished the year ranked seventh in the nation and first in the New England Region.
The Chargers seventeen game winning streak was a new record at Dominican and their 18-2 record was the second best in program history.
