ARGOS NET GAME WINNER AS TIME EXPIRES TO DEFEAT CHARGERS LACROSSE

(4/1/13) The Notre Dame de Namur University Argos netted the game-winning goal as time expired to defeat the visiting Dominican College Chargers, 8-7, in a non-conference game played on the campus of Notre Dame de Namur. With the win, the Argos improve to 3-4 overall while the Chargers fall to 0-6 on the season.

Freshman attacker Joseph Ravenell (Copiague, N.Y.) led the Chargers with a career high four game goals.
Dominican scored the lone goal of the first quarter as junior midfielder Sean McGregor (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) scored his second goal of the year with 13:25 remaining in the first quarter.
Ravenell continued the Charger run as he tallied back-to-back unassisted goals to give DC a 3-0 lead with ten and a half minutes remaining in the first half. NDNU countered with four consecutive goals to pull ahead 4-3 at the break.
Ravenell tied the game at 4-all with his third goal of the game with 14:10 left in the third and attacker Jusstin Ruffin (Amityville, N.Y.) scored his first of two game goals off the pass from Thomas Dertinger (Nanuet, N.Y.) with 11:40 remaining to regain the lead for DC at 5-4. The Argos closed out the quarter with two goals to go ahead 6-5.
In the fourth quarter, Ravenell began the scoring with his fourth game goal and 12th of the year to tie the game at 6-6 with 6:07 to go. Almost four minutes later, NDNU netted a goal to take the lead at 7-6. With 1:52 left in regulation, Ruffin netted his second game goal to tie the score for the fourth time at 7-7. As time expired, the Argos netted the game winner for the 8-7 victory.
Charger goalie Matthew Quinones (Nanuet, N.Y.) made nine saves in the loss.
DC returns home on Saturday to take on LIU Post in East Coast Conference (ECC) action at the DC Lacrosse Field.
