PENGUINS TOP CHARGERS LACROSSE
San Rafael, Calif. (3/30/13) The Dominican College Chargers lost to the Dominican University Penguins, 18-7, this afternoon in a non-conference game played at Kennelly Field. With the win the Penguins improve to 4-4 overall, while the Chargers fall to 0-5 on the season.

Junior midfielder Thomas Dertinger (Nanuet, N.Y.) led DC with the hatrick of three goals on the afternoon.
Freshman attacker Joseph Ravenell (Copiague, N.Y.) tallied two goals, while Jusstin Ruffin (Amityville, N.Y.) and senior Daniel Steigert (Copiague, N.Y.) had the other Charger goals.
Matthew Quinones (Nanuet, N.Y.) made 18 saves in the net.
The Penguins led 7-0 until the Dertinger struck for his first game goal with 4:45 left in the first quarter.
A 4-0 DU run made the score 11-1, but DC came back with two straight goals from Ravenell and a man-up goal off the stick of Dertinger. Ravenell had the other Charger goal of the first half to make the score 13-4 at the break.
Steigert started off the scoring in the second half with 10:45 on the clock to cut the deficit to 13-5 and Dertinger later followed with his third game goal with just under three mintues to go in the third to make the score 14-6 and Ruffin ended the quarter with his goal for a 15-7 score at the end of three quarters.
The Penguins accounted for all of the scoring in the fourth quarter for the final 18-7 score.
Dominican will take on Notre Dame de Namur on Monday.
