2011 Dominican College Men’s Lacrosse Season Summary
The Dominican College men’s lacrosse program finished the 2011 season with a 2-13 record and an East Coast Conference (ECC) record of 1-9.
Senior midfielder Jesse Peterson earned his second ECC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's lacrosse as he previously won the honor in 2009. He tallied 41 points on the season off 24 goals and 17 assists to be named to the ECC All-Conference Honorable Mention squad. This season he led the team in assists and was second on the team in goals and points this season. He has been a two-year team captain and will leave the Chargers in second place in All-Time Assists and All-Time Points. Peterson also made his second appearance on the Capital One Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team as he was also named to the Second Team in 2010. He also become the first DC men’s lacrosse player to earn Capital One Academic All-America honors as he was named to the Third Team.
Fellow senior midfielder Alex Jones led the Chargers in goals and points for the second consecutive season. He ranks ninth in the ECC in goals per game. He leaves Dominican as the All-Time Leader in Goals and Points with 134 goals and 167 points. This season Jones earned All-ECC Second Team honors after receiving Honorable Mention Honors in 2010.
Goalie Brendan Bonacum had 182 saves for a .505 save percentage in 15 games in the net. He finished third in the ECC in saves per game (12.40).
Sophomore John Kubala led the Chargers in ground balls, while senior Dave Marrese finished second on the team.
Junior attacker Korin Pierce finished third in goals, assists and points. Rookies Chris Delaney and Thomas Dertinger rounded out the top five Chargers in scoring this season with 13 and 12 goals respectively.
The team will graduate their largest class this season, as nine players (Jones, Peterson, Bonacum, Marrese, Alex McKenna, Dan Servelli, Christopher Jones, Tyler Douglas and Andrew Rendine) leave the program.
