MEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO FRANKLIN PIERCE UNIVERSITY IN SEASON OPENER
Rindge, NH (3/5/11) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team lost their opening game of the 2011 season to non-conference opponent, Franklin Pierce University, 9-8, this afternoon in a game played at Sodexo Field. With the loss Dominican falls to 0-1 on the season. Freshman attacker Chris Delaney (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada) netted four goals in his collegiate debut.

The Chargers held a 2-1 lead after one period of play as freshman attacker Delaney netted his first collegiate goal with 12:06 left in the period. Junior midfielder Michael Holl (Montvale, NJ) scored his first goal of the 2011 season with 1:28 left.
The Ravens outscored the Chargers 3-2 in period two to make the score 4-4 at halftime. Delaney picked up his second goal of the game with 8:07 remaining before the break and junior attacker Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) netted the second consecutive Charger goal of the period with 4:46 left before halftime.
The third period was full of offense as seven goals were scored. Delaney started the scoring with his third goal of the game with 11:35 left to put the Chargers ahead 5-4. Following a Raven goal to tie the game, Delaney tallied his fourth goal with 8:54 left in the period to once again put DC ahead 6-5. Senior midfielder Jesse Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada) scored his first goal of the season with just under three minutes to go in the period to regain a one goal lead, 7-6. With the score tied 7-7, Pierce closed out the third period scoring with his second goal of the game off the assist from Peterson to give the Chargers an 8-7 lead at the end of three periods of play.
The fourth quarter saw FPU net two goals to pull out the 9-8 victory.
Senior goalie Brendan Bonacum (Port Jefferson Station, NY) made 12 saves in the game.
Delaney led the Chargers with four goals for four points on the day. Pierce and Peterson finished the day with two points as Pierce scored two goals and Peterson had one goal and one assist. Holl had one goal for one point.
