The first quarter saw Drew jump out to a 4-0 lead, with the first Charger goal coming with 6:07 left in the second quarter as Alex Jones (St. Albert, AB) netted the unassisted goal. Sophomore Michael Holl (Montvale, NJ) scored his fourth goal of the season with 3:09 remaining en route to a 5-2 deficit at the break.
The Rangers regained a four goal advantage (6-2), just 0:44 seconds into the third quarter before sophomore Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) tallied back-to-back goals in a span of almost two minutes to close out the third quarter trailing, 6-4.
DC continued on the run in the fourth quarter as attacker Daniel Metoyer (San Diego, CA) netted the unassisted goal to cut the Ranger lead to 6-5 with 12:52 left in regulation. A Drew goal 0:17 later put them ahead 7-5, but Metoyer and Jones each scored their second goals of the game to tie the contest at 7-7 with just over five minutes remaining.
The game winning goal came for the Rangers with 3:26 left in the fourth quarter to lift them to the 8-7 victory.
Charger goalie Brendan Bonacum (Port Jefferson Station, NY) made 11 saves in the loss.
With the loss Dominican falls to 3-7 overall.
