Hillburn, NY (4/10/10) The New York Institute of Technology Bears defeated host Dominican College, 17-5, this afternoon in East Coast Conference (ECC) action at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

NYIT took control of the game early, netting six goals in the first quarter for a 6-0 lead and led 9-2 at the intermission. DC got on the board with 12:37 left in the second quarter as Connor Lawlor (Neptune City, NJ) tallied a goal off the assist by Daniel Metoyer (San Diego, CA). The Chargers closed out the scoring in the second quarter as midfielder Elliott Shephard (Allentown, PA) netted a goal with 0:59 left before the intermission.
DC opened up the scoring in the third quarter as senior Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY) scored the unassisted goal with 10:30 left in the quarter, but NYIT went on a 4-0 run to close out the quarter with a 13-3 lead.
Metoyer netted his first goal of the game off the assist from Tyler Douglas (St. Albert, AB) to start the fourth quarter, but the Bears went on to close out the game outscoring the Chargers, 4-1 for the 17-5 victory. Jesse Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) netted the final DC goal with Metoyer recording his second assist.
Charger goalie Brendan Bonacum (Port Jefferson Station, NY) made 12 saves in 51:09 minutes of action, while freshman Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) hade two saves in the final 8:51 minutes of action.
With the loss Dominican falls to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in the ECC.
