PFEIFFER UNIVERSITY DEFEATS CHARGERS LACROSSE

Charlotte, NC (3/14/09) The visiting Dominican College men's lacrosse team lost a non-conference game to Pfeiffer University, 17-9 this afternoon.  With the win Pfeiffer improves to 5-0, while Dominican drops to 0-3 on the season.

Pfeiffer outshot their visitors 38-25 and edged out the Chargers 38-36 in the battle of the ground balls.  Dominican held the advantage in face-offs by winning 18 of 28.

Dominican netted an unassisted goal by freshman Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) to cut the Falcon lead to 4-1.

DC added two more unassisted goals in the second one by senior Jeremy Arcaro (New Windsor, NY) and a second goal by Pierce.

Senior James Murphy (Pearl River, NY), Jesse Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan), Gabe Sutherland (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan), Tyler Douglas (St. Albert, Canada) and Pierce all had goals in the third and fourth quarters , with Sutherland netting two goals for the 17-9 final.

Sutherland, Dan Celebre (Lake Grove, NY) and Stephen Polizzi (Walden, NY) all had assists in the loss.

Goalie Brendan Bonacum (Port Jefferson Station, NY) tallied 10 saves in the loss, while Pierce and Sutherland led the team with three points a piece.

Dominican is back in action on March 21st when they host Saint Anselm College in a non-conference game at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.  Game time is slated for 1pm.
