Orangeburg, NY (9/25/08) Dominican College Director of Athletics, Joe Clinton, has announced the hiring of Manny Rapkin as the Interim Head Men's Lacrosse Coach for the 2009 season.
Rapkin, who has been an assistant coach for the past two seasons with the Chargers, is replacing Nick Ballou who had resigned earlier this month.
"I am honored that Dominican would give me the opportunity to lead their student-athletes on and off the field and continue building on the success that Coach Ballou had accomplished over the last three years," Rapkin said.
Rapkin played collegiate lacrosse and football at Siena College, a NCAA Division I member of the MAAC Conference. A Rockland County native, Rapkin is a graduate of Clarkstown North High School and began his coaching career as an assistant at his high school alma mater in 1985.
Prior to coming to Dominican, he was an assistant coach at Desert Mountain High School from 2002-2003 and then at Saguaro High School, both located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Rapkin spent the past summer coaching at the Adrenaline Lacrosse Camps in California.
"We are very happy to have Manny take on the role of interim head coach for this season," said Clinton. "Having been associated with the men's lacrosse program for the last two years, the department felt that he was the most qualified for the position."
