2008 Dominican College Men's Lacrosse Season Summary 

The Dominican College men's lacrosse program finished the 2008 season with a 5-10 record and a East Coast Conference (ECC) record of 0-6.  DC completed their second season in the tough ECC Conference, going up against the toughest teams in the country including, New York Institute of Technology, C.W. Post University and Mercyhurst College.   

The Chargers won their first game of the season against Briarcliffe College11-6 and won two of three games during the Spring Break Trip to Florida after defeating Rollins College, 13-3 and Saint Leo University, 11-8.  Dominican also defeated Northeast-10 opponents, Franklin Pierce University, 14-13 in overtime and Assumption College, 11-5.

Sophomore Alex Jones once again led the team with 28 goals this season and second with 33 total points. 

Junior Owen Smith III set a new program record this season for career points with a 133 total points.  He led the team with 36 total points and finished second in goals (23) and assists (13).  He finished 10th in the ECC in shots per game and tied for fifth in man-down goals per game.

Goalie Joe Assante played all 15 games this season and set a new program record for career saves with 510.  He had a 188 saves this season and a .577 save percentage.  He led the ECC in saves per game (12.47), ranked third in save percentage and fifth in goals against average (10.68).

Transfer Pat O'Shea finished third on the team with 17 goals and captain Remo Montalbano had 11 goals on the year.  Freshman Jesse Peterson led the team with 16 assists and tallied 21 points on the year.

The Chargers will graduate five players this year, but will return for the 2009 season with a strong nucleus of talented players.  The team looks to make a mark in the ECC and advance to the NCAA tournament in 2009.
