ROLLINS THUMPED BY CHARGERS LACROSSE

Winter Park, Fl (3/18/08) Zach Cole made a career high 22 saves in Tuesday afternoon’s contest against the Dominican College Chargers. The Tars were overpowered by the Chargers with a final score of 13-3. Rollins sinks to 2-7, while Dominican advances to 2-2.
Freshmen Charlie Shelly led the Tars in points with one goal and one assist. Junior attackman Drew Bernstein and freshman midfielder Tim Hill tallied one goal apiece, while junior attacker Andy Katz added an assist for the afternoon.
The defensive unit saw plenty of action as the Dominican players put the pressure on throughout the majority of the game. Shelly caused two turnovers for the day, and on his heels were Evan Mimun, Alex Gauthier, Nigel Malloch, and Christopher Gorman with one caused turnover each. Malloch led the defensive end with four ground balls, followed by Andrew Cohen with three, and Henry Cadwalader and Zach Cole with two apiece.
Dominican saw goals from eight different players, and assists from seven. Owen Smith III (Cornwall, NY) led the Chargers with four points overall, scoring two goals and two assists throughout the game. Alex Jones (St. Albert, AB) tallied three goals, with Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY) adding another three points with his two goals and one assist.
Pat O'Shea (Dix Hills, NY) contributed two more goals for the Chargers, and was joined by Jimmy Tancredi (Bloomingburg, NY) whose one goal and one assist gave him two points for the day. Four other Chargers would score one point each, with five players adding assists, including Jeremy Arcaro (New Windsor, NY) who tallied three.
It was an all out free-for-all for the Chargers as they overpowered the Tars in shooting. Dominican was able to rattle off 47 shots, while Rollins was only able to fire away nine throughout the whole contest. Dominican led in all statistical aspects, and held possession of the ball for the majority of the game, barely giving the Tars a chance to work the ball into their offensive end.
The Chargers are back in action on Thursday when they take on
St. Leo University. Game time is 7pm.
