PORTER NAMED TO 2013 NABC COACHES' DIVISION II ALL-EAST TEAM

Kansas City, Mo. (3/22/13) The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today the 2013 NABC Coaches’ Division II All-District teams and coaches, recognizing the best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division II, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. The 89 student-athletes, from eight districts, are now eligible for the NABC Coaches’ Division II All-America teams, selected by the NABC.

Kansas City, Mo. (3/22/13)  The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today the 2013 NABC Coaches' Division II All-District teams and coaches, recognizing the best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division.  Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division II, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America.  The 89 student-athletes, from eight districts, are now eligible for the NABC Coaches' Division II All-America teams, selected by the NABC.

Dominican College men's basketball player, Leon Porter II, has been named to the All-East Second Team.

Porter, a senior guard from Laurel, Md., earns his first appearance on the NABC All-East Second Team this year.  He has previously earned All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First Team accolades and CACC All-Tournament honors this season as well.

Porter finishes his career at Dominican with 1,757 points which places him third in the Charger 1,000 Point Club.  He netted his 1,000th career point in his junior season.  He led Dominican in scoring and assists, while ranking 11th in the conference in points per game and is sixth in the conference in points.  Porter also ranks fifth in free throw percentage, fourth in free throw attempts and ninth in three-point attempts.

His career accolades include three All-CACC selections, three All-Met honors, one ECAC All-Star selection and was the 2010 CACC Rookie of the Year.
