#1N MEN'S BASKETBALL ADVANCES TO CACC SEMI-FINALS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/2/13) The Dominican College men's basketball team, the top seed in the north division, topped the Chestnut Hill College Griffins, the fourth seed in the south division, 91-85, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Quarter-Final contest played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

(3/2/13) The Dominican College men's basketball team, the top seed in the north division, topped the Chestnut Hill College Griffins, the fourth seed in the south division, 91-85, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Quarter-Final contest played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
The score was tied at 27-all with just over five minutes remaining in the first stanza when the Chargers went on a 7-2 run to take a 34-29 advantage with under two minutes to go. Two free throws from Johnathan Brown (Central Islip, N.Y.) with 15 ticks to go gave Dominican a 39-32 lead.
A dunk from Nick Smith (Middletown, N.Y.) with 14:02 left in the game put DC ahead by double digits (53-43) and senior Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, Md.) later followed with a layup to extend the lead to 13 points (65-52) with nine minutes left. The Griffins cut the lead to four points (89-85) with five seconds left by freshman Joe Clinton (Pearl River, N.Y.) closed out the game with two free throws for the 91-85 win.
Smith paced the Chargers with 18 points (7-14 from the floor, 4-5 from the foul line) off the bench.
Senior Leon Porter II (Laurel, Md.) netted 16 points and a team leading seven assists.
Guard Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored 14 points, while Woods finished with 12 points (6-10 from the floor).
With the win Dominican improves to 22-5 overall and will play in a CACC Semi-Final game on Friday, March 9th. The semi-finals and finals will be hosted by the University of the Sciences.
