MEN'S BASKETBALL MOVES UP IN NCAA EAST REGION RANKINGS

Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/27/13) The Dominican College men's basketball team has moved up in the latest NCAA East Region poll as was announced by the NCAA this afternoon. The Chargers, who were previously ranked sixth last week, have moved up to the fifth spot in this week's poll.

Dominican is one of two teams from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) to be in the rankings this week as Holy Family University has been ranked tenth.

The Chargers finished the regular season with an overall record of 21-5 and a conference record of 15-3. The team clinched the CACC North Division Title and will host Chestnut Hill College, the fourth seed in the south division, in a CACC Tournament Quarter-Final contest on Saturday, March 2nd on Coach Baxter Court.

DC has faced four of the teams in the "Top Ten" with victories over #2 Franklin Pierce University, #7 University of Bridgeport and #10 Holy Famly University this year. DC fell to #3 Assumption College back in November.

In the 2012-2013 season, Dominican was the first team in the East Region to reach the 20-win plateau.

The Chargers were also ranked in this week's National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)/Division II Men's Basketball Poll which was released yesterday.

Dominican received their highest ranking in the latest NABC Poll as they team was ranked 23rd in the nation. The Chargers had previously made two other appearances in the poll, both in the 25th spot.

The weekly poll is being conducted by 16 members of the NABC, two representing each of the eight NCAA Division II regions. All records are through games of Sunday, Feb. 24. The next poll will be released
Tuesday, March 5.
