CHARGERS BASKETBALL RALLY TO DEFEAT WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY IN OVERTIME
New Castle, Del. (1/5/13) The Dominican College men's basketball team improved to 12-2 overall and 6-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating host, Wilmington University, 72-68 in an overtime victory at the WU Athletics Complex.

Senior guard Leon Porter II (Laurel, Md.) led three Chargers in double figures with 20 points (9-9 from the free throw line) and four rebounds.
Nick Smith (Middletown, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 11 points, four rebounds and a team leading three steals.
Daniel Woods tallied 10 points, while Cory Quimby* (Otisville, N.Y.) finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.
A.J. Burton (New Rochelle, N.Y.) had six points, six caroms and a team leading three assists.
Wilmington led 25-18 with 6:43 remaining in the first half, when the Chargers went on a 14-4, capped off by back-to-back treys from Porter and Preston Smith* (Mays Landing, N.J.), run to claim a 32-29 lead. WU closed out the half with a 6-2 run to regain a 35-34 lead at the break.
The 'Cats led by as many as ten points twice in the second half and held a 58-52 lead with just under six and a half minutes to go. An 8-0 DC run, with six points coming from Quimby and a bucket from Smith, put then ahead 60-58 with 3:17 remaining. Later tied at 60-all, Burton iced two free throws to make the score 62-60, but WU tied the game with a layup to force overtime.
In the overtime period, Dominican scored the first four points, all from the charity stripe as Burton and Porter each went 2-2. A Wildcat trey cut the lead to 66-65, but Porter went on a 4-0 run to give the Chargers a 70-65 lead with 11 ticks left on the clock. WU hit another three point basket to cut the lead to two points, but Porter closed out the game with two more free throws for the 72-68 win.
DC returns to action on Wednesday evening as they host Concordia College at 8pm at the Hennessy Center.
