MEN'S BASKETBALL FALL TO MERRIMACK COLLEGE AT BENTLEY TIP--OFF CLASSIC
Waltham, Mass. (11/9/12) The Dominican College men's basketball team opened up the 2012-2013 season with a loss to Merrimack College, 76-81, this evening in the opening game of the Bentley Tip-Off Classic. With the loss, Dominican falls to 0-1 overall, while Merrimack improves to 1-0 on the season.

Senior center Cory Quimby (Otisville, N.Y.) led the Chargers with 20 points, shooting 8-15 from the floor and 4-7 from the free throw line.
Leon Porter (Laurel, Md.) added 26 points and six assists in the loss.
The game saw 10 lead changes and 12 tied scores.
In the first half, Merrimack led 7-3 when the Chargers went on an 11-2 run, capped off by back-to-back treys from junior Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) to go ahead 14-9.
Later tied at 32-all with 1:49 left in the first half, the Chargers closed out the half outscoring Merrimack, 7-6 to take a 41-38 lead at the intermission.
In the second half, the game was tied at 58-58 with 9:39 remaining when MC went on an 8-0 run to take a 66-58 lead. Dominican cut the lead to three points (66-63 and 68-65), but that would be as close as they would get as Merrimack went on to the 81-76 victory.
Dominican takes on Bentley University tomorrow at 8pm in the finale of the Bentley Tip-Off Classic.
