MEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS NYACK COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (2/9/12) The Dominican College men's basketball team scored a season high 102 points as they defeated the visiting Warriors of Nyack College, 102-77, this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the victory, Dominican improves to 14-7 overall and 7-6 in the CACC, while Nyack falls to 0-23 overall and 0-13 in conference play.

The Chargers jumped out to a 22-12 lead in the first seven minutes of action and increased the lead to 29-15 on a three point bucket by Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, NY). The Warriors cut the lead to five points (50-45) with under five minutes left in the first half, but the Chargers closed out the half with an 8-2 run as guard Leon Porter II* (Laurel, MD) started the run off with back-to-back treys for an 58-47 lead.
Porter had the hot hand in the first half for DC as he netted 22 points, while center Cory Quimby* (Otisville, NY) scored 11 points.
Dominican started the second half with 10 unanswered points, capped off by back-to-back three pointers from Ginyard to go up 67-47 with 17:34 remaining and never looked back en route to the 102-77 victory.
Porter led all scorers and five Chargers in double figures with 26 points and five assists. Ginyard finished with 18 points, while Quimby finished with the game's only double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, MD) and Johnathan Brown (Central Islip, NY) came off the bench to score 13 points and 10 points respectively, while combining for 13 rebounds. Preston Smith (Mays Landing, NJ) had a team leading seven assists.
DC returns to action on Saturday when they host Philadelphia University in a CACC contest. Game time is slated for 3:30 pm for the 25th Annual Bobby Mulligan Memorial game to be played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
