PORTER NETS CAREER HIGH AS CHARGERS CHARGE PAST POST UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (2/1/12) Dominican College guard, Leon Porter, scored a career high 40 points in leading the men's basketball team to a 64-47 victory over the visiting Eagles of Post University this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest held on Coach Baxter Court. With the win Dominican improves to 12-7 overall and 5-6 in the CACC, while Post falls to 8-13 overall and 6-6 in the conference.

With the win Dominican improves to 12-7 overall and 5-6 in the CACC, while Post falls to 8-13 overall and 6-6 in the conference.
Dominican jumped out to an 14-4 lead and lead 20-8 with just over ten minutes to go in the first half. Post cut the deficit to 25-24 with 4:37 on the clock, but DC scored back-to-back layups by Corey Quimby* (Otisville, NY) and Tyler Stradford (Staten Island, NY) rebuilt a five point lead with the score being 31-26 at the break.
Post lead 35-33 in the second stanza when the Charger's offense exploded with a 21-7 run to regain the lead at 54-42 and never looked back en route to the 64-47 victory.
Porter led all scorers with 40 points, shooting 15-29 from the floor and 8-12 from the three point arc, and had six rebounds.
Michael Calzonetti (Gloucester, NJ) grabbed a team leading eight caroms in the win, while Quimby finished with six points and seven boards.
The Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to the University of the Sciences for a 3pm CACC contest.
