DOMINICAN'S QUIMBY SELECTED MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

New Haven, CT (11/14/11) Cory Quimby of Dominican College has been selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the opening week of the 2011 season. Nick Schlitzer of Philadelphia University was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

New Haven, CT (11/14/11) Cory Quimby of Dominican College has been selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the opening week of the 2011 season. Nick Schlitzer of Philadelphia University was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

Quimby, a 6-6 junior center from Otisville, N.Y., led the Chargers to a 2-0 opening weekend with averages of 24.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per-game, while shooting 58.6-percent (17-for-29) from the field. He hit a buzzer-beater to give Dominican a thrilling 78-76 win over Assumption to open the season.

Schiltzer, a 6-5 freshman guard who hails from Pottville, Pa., posted 28 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in his first collegiate game at Kutztown. He shot 10-for-15 overall from the field and 7-for-8 from three-point range.

Honorable Mention
Dan Comas, Chestnut Hill (Sr., F, 6-6, Philadelphia, PA) - In a 3-1 start to the season, has averaged 21.8 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 68.1-percent from the field.

Argelix Gil, Concordia (Jr., F, 6-5, Brooklyn, NY) - Registered 16.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per-game in a 1-1 opening week for the Clippers.

Terry Hicks, Bloomfield (So., G, Neptune, NJ) - Averaged 19.0 points and 3.5 assists per-game over the first two contests of the season.

CACC Notes
Bloomfield - The Deacons opened the 2011-2012 season with a pair of losses at the annual Bentley University Tip-off Classic. Sophomore guard Terry Hicks (Neptune, N.J.) averaged 19 points and 3.5 assists over the two-game stretch, notching a career-high 20 points in the loss to Merrimack College Friday night. Senior forward Matt Wafula (Harlem, N.Y.) averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds for the weekend, notching 18 points and 12 boards against Merrimack. Ahmad Harris (Linden, N.J.) averaged 12.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and eight assists over the two games, putting forth a 12-point, seven-rebound, eight-assist performance against Bentley Saturday. Freshman guard Michael Rotando (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) netted 12 points in each of the two contests, shooting 44% from beyond the arc over the course of the weekend.

Chestnut Hill - Senior forward Dan Comas (Philadelphia, PA) was named to the Disney Tip-Off West Coast Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 19.3 PPG and 7.3 PRG. Senior guard Brandon Williams (Philadelphia, PA) scored ten points against NYIT and now rests only six points shy (994) of his 1,000th career point. Comas is closing in on the milestone as well, currently holding at 979 career points. Comas and Williams will have the opportunity to make history in front of the home crowd, as the men's basketball team returns to campus to host C.W. Post University in a 7:00 p.m. home opener on Wednesday, November 16.

Concordia - Concordia (1-1, 0-0 CACC) defeated the preseason #20th ranked Saint Rose Golden Knights last Saturday night in an 83-82 (OT) victory at the Saint Rose Tip-Off Tournament. Junior forward Argelix Gil (Brooklyn, NY / Franklin K Lane) averaged a double-double for the tournament, finishing with an average of 16.5 points and 13.5 rebounds. This week the Clippers will host non-conference opponent NYIT on Wednesday, November 16th in the 2nd Annual Jimmy Sayegh Game. They will then travel to Vermont to participate in the DoubleTree Doc Jacobs Classic at St. Michael's College this Friday and Saturday.

Felician - Among six players who made their Felician debuts this weekend was senior F/C John Tello, who has been inactive for two years due to a mid-semester transfer and an injury. Tello last played in 2008-09 for Saint Anselm College. On Friday, Felician allowed 100 or more points for the first time since Jan. 26, 2008 (to Holy Family).

Philadelphia - The Rams suffered a non-conference loss to Kutztown to open the season, despite the breakout performance by freshman guard Nick Schlitzer, who scored 28 points and grabbed 11 boards. Up next for the Rams is two non-conference matches. On Tuesday (11/15) they host West Chester University and on Saturday (11/19) the Rams travel up to UMass-Lowell.

Post - Post opened up the season with losses against two strong programs in Southern Connecticut State and UMass-Lowell at the Bridgeport Tournament. In the game against Southern, the Eagles committed only 10 turnovers, which has become their strength since Al Sokaitis took over as head coach. In the game against UMass-Lowell, Post was able to cut the lead down to seven in a seesaw game, but could not top the River Hawks. Post will play one game this week at Saint Anselm.
