HODZIC AND PORTER NAMED TO THE ALL-MET DIVISION II MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
Orangeburg, NY (4/21/11) Dominican College men's basketball players, Almin Hodzic and Leon Porter have been named to the All-Met Division II Men's Basketball Team as was announced by the National Invitational Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association today. Hodzic was named to the First Team, while Porter earned Second Team honors.
Orangeburg, NY (4/21/11) Dominican College men's basketball players, Almin Hodzic and Leon Porter have been named to the All-Met Division II Men's Basketball Team as was announced by the National Invitational Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association today. Hodzic was named to the First Team, while Porter earned Second Team honors.
Hodzic, a native of Budd Lake, NJ, had a breakout senior season and went from All-CACC honorable mention in 2009-10 to first team status this year. He led Dominican to the third seed in the North Division in the CACC Tournament behind averages of 14.8 points per-game, 8.9 rebounds, 3.17 blocks and 56-percent shooting from the field. He ranked 11th in the conference in scoring, third in rebounds and field-goal percentage and second in blocks. Previously, Hodzic was named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First Team, the 2010-11 Division II Daktronics Men's Basketball East All-Region Team and was selected as a 2010-2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star.
Porter, a 5-6 sophomore guard from Laurel, MD, earned All-CACC Second Team honors this season after earning All-CACC Third Team and Rookie of the Year honors in 2010. He was second in the team in scoring (14.4 ppg) and led the team in both assists (139) and steals (41). He ranked 12th in the CACC in scoring, third in assists, 5th in free throw percentage, 12th in steals, 14th in three point field-goal percentage, 10th in three point field-goals made and 5th in assist/turnover ratio. Last year he also earned All-Met Division II Second Team honors.
The All-Met awards will be presented Tuesday evening, April 26th at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, NY.
