MEN'S BASKETBALL WIN STREAK ENDS WITH LOSS TO BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (2/3/11) The Dominican College men's basketball team saw their six-game winning streak come to an end tonight as they lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to the visiting Deacons of Bloomfield College, 78-69, this evening on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. This is the second time this season that the Deacons snapped a six-game winning streak by the Chargers.
Orangeburg, NY (2/3/11) The Dominican College men's basketball team saw their six-game winning streak come to an end tonight as they lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to the visiting Deacons of Bloomfield College, 78-69, this evening on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. This is the second time this season that the Deacons snapped a six-game winning streak by the Chargers.
Dominican started things off with the first six points of the contest, but a Deacon 9-2 run saw them take a 9-8 advantage with 15:07 left in the first half. DC would later go up 14-11, but another run (7-0) by Bloomfield once again saw them go up a point (18-17).
DC was up 28-27 with 3:46 to go before the intermission, but Bloomfield rallied to end the first half with a 13-0 run to take a 40-28 lead.
The Chargers were able to cut the deficit to four points (55-59) with just under ten and a half minutes left in regulation, but an 8-2 Bloomfield spurt regained a 67-57 lead. A Preston Smith (Mays Landing, NJ) with 0:50 on the clock brought the Chargers within five points (75-69), but forced to foul Bloomfield closed out the game with four free throws for the 78-69 victory.
Senior center Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ) recorded his ninth double-double of the season with a team leading 17 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. Sophomore Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, MD) came off the bench to net 11 points (shooting 4-6 from the floor), while Smith finished with 10 points, going 4-7 from the floor.
Following the loss Dominican now stands at 12-9 overall and 8-3 in the CACC.
DC returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Wilmington University in a CACC contest scheduled for 3pm.
