CHARGERS BASKETBALL DROPS CACC OPENER TO NYACK COLLEGE
Nyack, NY (12/4/08) The Dominican College men's basketball team dropped the opening game of their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play this evening, 75-66, to host Nyack College at Bowman Gymnasium.
Nyack, NY (12/4/08) The Dominican College men's basketball team dropped the opening game of their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play this evening, 75-66, to host Nyack College at Bowman Gymnasium.
With the win Nyack improves to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in the CACC, while the Chargers fall to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the CACC.
Valiant Jones led the Warriors with 25 points and six caroms. Stedford McLeod added 20 points, while Andrew Williams had the team's only double-double with 14 points nad 10 rebounds.
The Chargers were led by senior guard Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) with 13 points and a team leading five boards. Senior Will Carty (Bronx, NY) scored 12 points and four rebounds, while Brendan McManus (Pearl River, NY) contributed nine points off the bench. Starter Damien Davis (Windsor, CT) added eight points, four rebounds and four assists in the loss.
Dominican struggled from the floor shooting just 37.3% (22-59) for the game, compared to Nyack who shot 46.6% (27-58) for the game. The Warriors also held the advantage from the charity stripe shooting 81% (17-21), while the Chargers shot 68% (17-25) for the game.
The Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in a non-conference game on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. Game time is set for 3pm.
