MEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEAT QUEENS COLLEGE AT FAIRFIELD INN CLASSIC
Nyack, NY (11/22/08) The Dominican College men's basketball team defeated Queens College, 76-55 this afternoon at the Fairfield Inn Classic hosted by Nyack College at the Bowman Gymnasium.
Queens had an early 12-8 lead in the first half, but the Chargers charged back with 12 unanswered points to take a 20-12 lead and held on for a 25-21 halftime lead.
DC never trailed in the second half and used an 8-0 run to take a 46-32 lead with 12:27 left in the game en route to the 76-55 victory.
Senior Will Carty (Bronx, NY) led the Chargers with 15 points. Sophomore Kris Knez (Astoria, NY) netted 13 points and four rebounds, while senior guard Damien Davis (Windsor, CT) scored 10 points and four rebounds in the win. Senior Dato Sakvarelidze (Tbilisi, GA) led the team with five caroms.
Khaleef Allicott led the Knights with 21 points and six caroms. Mike Liander and Edil Lacayo each had 11 points in the loss.
With the win the Chargers improve to 3-2 on the season.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Molloy College in a non-conference game slated to begin at 7pm.
