BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE DEACONS DOWN DOMINICAN COLLEGE CHARGERS IN MEN'S HOOPS ACTION

Orangeburg, NY (2/10/09) The Dominican College men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to the visiting Bloomfield College Deacons, 107-76, this evening on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
Bloomfield never trailed in the game, jumping out toa 29-19 lead with just over nine minutes left in the first half and extended the lead to 55-28 at the intermission behind shooting 63.6% (21-33) from the floor in the first half.
The Chargers showed some life in the second half scoring 32 points in 9:14 of action into the second half. Bloomfield shot 60.6% (20-33) in the second stanza, while Dominican struggled shooting 47.1% (16-34).
Sophomore Gage Day (Newark, NJ) led all scorers with 34 points, while senior Omari Knox (Brooklyn, NY) had 21 points. Chris Sampson (Philadelphia, PA) added 17 points and a game leading 10 boards and Elias Brantley (Irvington, NJ) had 14 points off the bench.
Senior guard Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) led the Chargers with 16 points and four assists, while freshman Wayne Cottle (Montclair, NJ) had 10 points off the bench. Tim Matchett (Pitman, NJ) led the team with six caroms off the bench.
With the win Bloomfield improves to 18-6 overall and 12-1 in the CACC, while Dominican falls to 9-14 overall and 4-8 in the CACC.
Tonight was Nets for Nets night at the Hennessy Center where the men's basketball team donated $7.00 for every made field goal to the Catholic Relief Services. Each made field goal provided a mosquito net to prevent Malaria in Africa or Southeast Asia and the Charger made 27 field goals for a total donation of $189.00.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Philadelphia University in CACC action. Tip-off is slated for 4pm.
