HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY UPENDS CHARGERS BASKETBALL
Philadelphia, PA (1/20/09) The Holy Family University men's basketball team upended the visiting Dominican College Chargers, 73-69 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball action at the Campus Center.

Holy Family University jumped out to a 13-0 lead when the Chargers charged back with an 19-4 run to take a 17-16 lead with 4:50 left in the first half. The Tigers rebuilt a four point lead with 3:04 remaining, but a three point basket by senior guard Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) cut the lead to one, 22-21. The Tigers were able to re-take a 26-25 lead into the intermission.
In the second half, Holy Family University once again jumped out to a double digit lead, 40-29 with under 15 minutes to go. Dominican used a 13-3 run to cut the lead to 45-44 with 9:49 left in the game. The Tigers led by eight with 0:22 seconds left, but Dominican cut the lead down to four as time expired for the 73-69 loss.
Brock led the Chargers with 20 points and five assists in the loss. Senior Will Carty (Bronx, NY) netted 15 points and a team leading six assists in the loss. Forward Abdul Sulaiman (Bronx, NY) grabbed a team leading 11 rebounds and netted eight points.
All five starters for Holy Family were in double figures led by Ceazer Johnson who netted 22 points. Justin Swidowski scored 16 points, while Tom McKeown had a team leading 18 caroms.
With the win Holy Family University improves to 3-3 in the CACC and 4-13 overall, while Dominican falls to 6-10 overall and 1-4 in the CACC.
The Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host Post University in CACC men's action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. Game time is 3pm.
