Orangeburg, NY (1/15/09) The Bloomfield College Deacons defeated the visiting Dominican College Chargers, 85-68 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball action.
Orangeburg, NY (1/15/09) The Bloomfield College Deacons defeated the visiting Dominican College Chargers, 85-68 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball action.
The Deacons trailed 18-15 in the first half when they exploded for an 18-0 run which gave them a 33-18 advantage. DC came back to close the first half with a 16-6 run to trail 39-34 at the break.
DC opened up the second half on a 9-2 run which put them up 44-41 as junior Brendan McManus (Pearl River, NY) netted a three point bucket. BC cut the lead to one, but a bucket from senior Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) kept the Chargers with a three point lead (46-43). Bloomfield then went on a 22-10 run and didn't look back as they went on to the 85-68 victory.
Brock and senior forward Abdul Sulaiman (Bronx, NY) led the Chargers with 18 points a piece, with Sulaiman grabbing a career high 11 rebounds in the loss. Senior Damien Davis (Windsor, CT) came off the bench to score eight points and Dato Sakvarelidze (Tblisi, GA) had seven points.
With the loss Dominican falls to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Holy Family University. Game time is set for 8pm.
