CHARGER BASKETBALL FALLS TO POST UNIVERSITY

Blauvelt, NY (2/9/08)  The visiting Dominican College Chargers dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball game to Post University, 80-64 this afternoon at the Drubner Center.  With the win, Post improves to 12-11 overall and 9-4 in the CACC, while Dominican drops to 11-12 overall and 6-6 in the CACC.

Post University took a 21-10 lead with 8:05 left in the first half after going on a 10-1 run. The Eagles ended the first half with a 16-8 run to take a 41-24 lead.  The Chargers shot just 27.6% (8-29) in the first half, while Post shot 54.8% (17-31). 

Dominican went on a 10-0 run with under fifteen minutes left in regulation to cut the Eagle lead to 55-45.  DC got the lead down to eight points, 62-53 with just under four minutes left but were forced to start fouling and Post went on to the 80-64 victory.

The Chargers were led by junior Will Carty (Bronx, NY) with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Dato Sakvarelidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) came off the bench to net 12 points, while freshman  Kris Knez (Astoria, NY) scored seven points and five caroms.

The Eagles had four of their starters in double figures led by AJ Reitter with 25 points.  Peter Lawal had the game's only double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.  Jesse Iyalekhue and Garvin McAlister each had 10 points, while McAlister had a game leading six assists.

DC is back in action on Saturday, February 16th when they host Holy Family University in CACC men's action.  Game time is 3pm on Coach Baxter Court as Dominican hosts Think Pink Day at the Hennessy Center.
