PRINCETON TIGERS SNAP LOSING STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER DOMINICAN COLLEGE

Princeton, NJ (1/27/08)  Princeton University went on an 11-0 run with under ten minutes in the first half and followed with a 13-4 run early in the second to defeat the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 60-46 this afternoon in Jadwin Gym in Princeton, NJ.

The game was knotted at 15-15 on a layup by freshman Kris Knez (Astoria, NY) with 11:15 left in the half when the Tigers went on the 11-0 spurt to take a  29-17 lead en route to a 39-21 halftime lead.  Dominican shot just 39.1% (9-23), while Princeton shot 60% (15-25) from the floor.  

The Tigers went on an early 13-4 run to take control of the game, but the Chargers went on an 8-0 run with just under four minutes left in the game to cut the deficit to 58-45 with 1:59 in the game.  Princeton netted the a bucket and the game ended with junior Damien Davis (Windsor, CT) hitting one of two free throws for the final 46-60 Tiger victory.

The Chargers struggled on the floor, shooting just 34.0% (18-53) for the game, while the Tigers shot 45.1% (23-51).  PU also out rebounded DC, 3-29.

Dominican was led by junior Will Carty (Bronx, NY) with 12 points.  Shelton Gibbs (Jersey City, NJ), Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) and Knez all had six points. Davis had a team leading six rebounds in the loss.

Princeton had two players in double figures as Lincoln Gunn netted 13 points and Zach Finley scored 12 points, grabbed a game leading eight rebounds, four assists and four blocks in the win.

With the win, Princeton snaps a 12-game losing streak and improves to 3-12 on the season.  Dominican drops to 10-9 overall.

Dominican is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe, Caldwell College.  Game time is 8pm at the Newman Center.
