Dominican College Chargers Wins Battle over Goldey-Beacom College, 58-56
Blauvelt, NY (2/21/06) Dominican Charger Prince Jackson (Schenectady, NY) hit the game winning lay up at the buzzer as Dominican defeated Goldey-Beacom College, 58-56 this evening in men’s CACC basketball action at the Hennessy Center.

Goldey-Beacom College, 58-56 this evening in men’s CACC
basketball action at the Hennessy Center.
GBC wiped away a five point deficit with five minutes remaining in the game as Derek Savage (Lincoln, DE) hit a jumper with 2:54 left in the game to put the Lightning up 53-52, for their second lead of the game. Dominican fought back as Jackson hit a lay up and was fouled to put the Chargers back up by one, 54-53. Jackson converted the three point play, giving the Chargers a two point lead, 55-53. After another GBC foul, Jackson went to the line and converted one of two free throws for a 56-53 DC lead with 0:11 seconds left in the game.
GBC guard DJ Stanberry (Newark, NJ) dribbled down the court and hit a long three point bucket to tie the game at 56-56 with 0:04 seconds left. Coming out of a time out, the ball was in bounded to Jackson and he drove the length of the court for a lay up. The ball rolled around the rim and fell into the net as time expired lifting the Chargers to a 58-56 victory.
Goldey-Beacom had two players in double figures, led by Savage who finished with a game leading 17 points and seven rebounds before fouling out of the game. Stanberry netted 14 points, shooting 5-8 from the free throw line in the loss.
Dominican also had two players in double figures, led by Jackson with 16 points. Senior Tahiem Stewart (Harlem, NY) scored 13 points and five rebounds in the win. Shelton Gibbs (Jersey City, NJ) and Chaz Holloway (Caldwell, NJ) added five points a piece.
GBC out rebounded the Chargers, 35-25, but DC had the edge on the floor, shooting 51.1% to GBC’s 40.4%.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 11-15 overall and 10-11 in the CACC, while the Goldey-Beacom falls to 15-11 overall and 10-11 CACC.
Dominican will be back in action on Saturday, February
25th when they host Wilmington College in CACC
men’s basketball action. Game time is 3pm.
