Dominican College Chargers Rally To Defeat Nyack College Warriors, 87-83
Blauvelt, NY (2/2/06)The Dominican College men's basketball team rallied for a come from behind victory over the Nyack College Warriors, 87-83 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game held at the Hennessy Center.
Trailing by twelve points, 11-23, early in the game the Chargers answered back as junior forward Prince Jackson (Schenectady, NY) hit a lay up at the buzzer to put DC up 41-40 at the half. Jackson finished the half with 21 points.
Dominican opened up the second half with a 12-0 run and lead by as many as thirteen points in the second half. Nyack put together a rally with four minutes remaining as they cut the deficit to three, 81-84, on a lay up Frank Conias (Brisbane, Australia), but it wouldn't be enough as Dominican went on to the 87-83 victory.
The Chargers had three players in double figures, led by Jackson with a game leading 29 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Senior Tahiem Stewart (Harlem, NY) netted 17 points, five rebounds and four assists in the win. Freshman guard Damien Davis (Windsor, CT) contributed 13 points (9-10 from the charity stripe), four assists and three steals in the win.
The Warriors also had three players in double figures, highlighted by a double-double as sophomore guard Brian Roberts (Hartford, CT) netted 23 points and 10 rebounds. Conias had17 points, while Lataiva Escho (Syracuse, NY) contributed 16 points, six rebounds and three assists in the loss.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 7-13 overall and 6-9 in the CACC, while the Warriors fall to 9-11 overall and 8-6 in the CACC.
Dominican will be back in action on Saturday, February 4th when they travel to Philadelphia University in CACC men's basketball action. Game time is 4pm.
