Caldwell Cougars Come Back to Defeat Dominican Chargers

Caldwell, NJ (1/31/06) Trailing by 12 points at halftime, the Caldwell College men's basketball team went on a 20-0 run over the first 10 minutes of the second half to spark a 56-53 comeback victory over Dominican College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Tuesday evening at the George R. Newman Center.

Junior guard Jean Georges (Vauxhal, NJ/Spotswood) and sophomore forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor, NJ/Egg Harbor) each scored 16 points as the Cougars improved to 12-10 overall and 8-6 in the CACC. Dominican fell to 6-13, 5-9 CACC.

The Chargers were led by senior Tahiem Stewart (Harlem, NY) who led all scorers with 18 points and eight rebounds. Junior forward Prince Jackson (Schenectady, NY) netted 17 points, two assists and three steals. Freshman guard Richard Fegins (Elizabeth, NJ) added five assists in the loss.

DC outshot CC from the floor, 46.8% to 45.9%, but CC dominated from beyond the three point arc, shooting 42.9% to DC's 15.4%.

Dominican is back in action on Thursday, February 2nd when they host CACC rival Nyack College at 8pm in the Hennessy Center.
