Dominican College Chargers Turn Back University of the Sciences, 72-65

Blauvelt, NY (1/28/06)The Dominican College men's basketball team defeated the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia men's basketball team, 72-65 this afternoon in the 19th Annual Bobby Mulligan Game held at the Hennessy Center.

The Devils had three players hit double figures led by junior forward Eric Cangelosi(Haddon Heights, NJ) with a game leading 21 points, two assists and two steals. Howard Lanier (Sicklerville, NJ) scored 18 points and recorded four assists, while William Kurtz (Shamong, NJ) added 10 points and three assists in the loss.

The Chargers also had three players reach double figures led by junior Prince Jackson (Schenectady, NY) with 20 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Freshman Will Carty (Bronx, NY) netted 15 points, 8-11 from the free throw line, and recorded three steals in the win. Senior Tahiem Stewart (Harlem, NY) was one rebound shy of a double-double, with 12 points and nine rebounds.

For their outstanding performances, Prince Jackson from Dominican and Eric Cangelosi from USP were named MVPs of the game.

With the win, the Chargers improve to 6-12 overall and 5-8 in the CACC, while the Devils fall to 7-11 overall and 5-8 in the CACC.

Dominican will be back in action on Tuesday, January 31st when they travel to Caldwell College in CACC men's basketball action. Game time is 8pm.
