SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE LEADS TEAM SCORING, FOUR TIED ATOP INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD AT ECAC DIVISION II GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

LIVERPOOL, N.Y. (10/2/05) Southern New Hampshire teamed for a 15-over 295 to take a four-stroke lead after the opening round of the ECAC Division II Mens Golf Championship. Four golfers are tied atop the individual leaderboard with one-over par scores at the par 70, 6,607-yard course at the Liverpool Golf & Public Country Club.
Ed Natti fired a two-over 72 to top the Southern New Hampshire golfers. The Penmen lead the only other squad to shoot under 300, Goldey-Beacom by four strokes.
Twenty-nine individual golfers are within four strokes of the leaders. Patrick Cibirka of St. Thomas Aquinas, Chris Giolitto of Pace, Bryants Jim OConnell and Michael Tobiason of Goldey-Beacom each carded a one-over 71 to share the opening round lead.
Host Le Moynes top finisher, freshman Brian Muench sits two strokes off the pace in a tie for ninth-place.
Just six strokes separate team slots three through ten. Northeast-10 Conference Champion Bryant and Post are eight strokes off the pace in third, followed by St. Thomas Aquinas, West Chester and New Haven. Franklin Pierce and Saint Michaels are tied for the eighth spot, while Bentley Dominican and Pace teamed for 309 and a tie for 10th place. Le Moyne is 13th with a 311, Saint Anselm is 14th, followed by Saint Rose, Dowling, Massachusetts Lowell and Wilmington are tied for 17th, Assumption is 19th and Adelphi rounds out the 20-team tournament.
Golfers tee off for the second and final round tomorrow morning in Liverpool.
