Post Wins CACC Golf Tournament Championship
New Haven, CT (4/11/06) The Post University golf team won the 2005-06 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Mens Golf Championship today at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield, CT. The Eagles unseated three-time defending champion, Goldey-Beacom, by only three strokes. The Eagles finished with a team 616, while the Lightning fired a combined 619.

New Haven, CT (4/11/06) - The Post University golf team won the 2005-06 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Golf Championship today at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield, CT. The Eagles unseated three-time defending champion, Goldey-Beacom, by only three strokes. The Eagles finished with a team 616, while the Lightning fired a combined 619.
Although Michael Tobiason and Steve Cutler of Goldey-Beacom finished in a tie for first place, Post was able to secure the victory by having its top four team members shoot between 147 and 156. Calum Malcolm led four Eagle All-CACC performers with a 147 (73, 74). Post's other finishers were Tommy Dorso Jr. with a 155 (76, 79), Jamie Blake with a 156 (76, 80) and Lloyd Notely shot a 158 (82, 76). The top ten finishers were named to the All-Conference team.
Tobiason and Cutler took home individual honors after both carding a 144 with identical rounds of 73 and 71. For their efforts, Tobiason and Cutler were named co-CACC Players of the Year. Tobiason has now earned at least a share of the individual title four times in his career. He won this event outright in each of the previous three seasons.
Freshman John Purple of Wilmington was awarded CACC Rookie of the Year accolades after firing rounds of 74 and 79 for a total of 153.
Goldey-Beacom head coach Jim Mahoney was voted by his peers as the Coach of the Year, and Nyack College was given the annual Team Sportsmanship Award.
