Pomona, N.Y. (4/29/13)  The Dominican College baseball team charged past host, Nyack College, 15-3, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at Provident Bank Park.  With the win, Dominican improves to 25-18 overall and 15-4 in conference play while the Warriors fall to 12-23 overall and 8-12 in the CACC.

The Chargers broke the game open as they scored four runs in both the second and third innings to go up 8-0.  Second basemen Dylan Ebel (Coral Springs, Fla.) hit a two-run single, while Robert Alonso (Kingston, N.Y.) had an RBI ground out and shortstop Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, Fla.) doubled home the fourth run of the inning.

In the third, Austin Holzknecht (Coral Springs, Fla.) and Ebel recorded RBI singles and freshman Nick Delgado (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) had an RBI ground out.  Christensen later reached base on a fielder's choice which allowed the eighth Charger run of the game to score.

A Charger run in the fifth inning on the RBI single from Christensen would make the score 9-1 and the Warriors added two more in the seventh to cut the deficit to 9-3.  However, DC tacked on six more runs in the eighth stanza to pull ahead 15-3.  Holzknecht hit a two-run single, while Delgado added a two-run double.  The first run of the inning came off the bat of Tyler Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) as he had an RBI single and final run scored on a sacrifice fly ball from Christensen.

Ryan Calby (Huntington Station, N.Y.) got the win in seven innings of work, allowing three runs on nine hits to improve to 3-2 on the season.

Jordan Paszek (Sussex, Wis.) came in for the final two innings.
