Orangeburg, N.Y. (12/12/12) The Dominican College Chargers baseball program put their baseball gloves down and put on worker gloves to aid in the help of the Hurricane Sandy Relief Project. On Saturday December 8th the Chargers baseball team took a bus down to Queens NY to help the victims that were affected by the October 29th hurricane.
The student-athletes helped the community by cleaning inside of houses from all the debris and sand that washed up from the flooding that the hurricane caused.
"This is a great opportunity for our players to get out to the community and help those who were affected by this devastating storm" Coach Giannetti said who has been the head coach of the Chargers Baseball program going into his 23rd year.
"It is unreal to understand the damage that this storm did to the houses and the surrounding area's until you actually see it with your own eyes" Matt Festa said, a sophomore pitcher on the Chargers baseball program
After the storm hit, Dominican College Community has been making regular weekend trips to those areas affected to aid in the help of the victims.
