BASEBALL SPLITS WITH WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
New Castle, DE (3/17/12) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Wilmington University, in games played this afternoon at the Wilson Field. With the split, Dominican now stands at 3-11 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Wilmington is now 10-5 overall and 1-1 in the CACC.

Game One: The Wildcats never trailed in game one as they took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third. The Chargers tied the game with two runs in the fifth as catcher Tyler Clark (Cheshire, CT) hit an RBI triple to right center field and Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, FL) later hit an RBI infield single to make the score 2-2.
WU answered back with six runs in the fifth and added two more in the sixth and five more runs in the seventh en route to the 15-2 victory.
Right-handed pitcher Dustin Javins (Fort Lauderdale, FL) suffered the loss (0-2) in five innings of work, allowing eight runs (four earned) on six hits and six strikeouts.
Christensen tallied two hits in the game.
Game Two: The Chargers struck for two runs in the first inning as Tyler Sadawske (Waukesha, WI) hit and RBI single through the ride side and a fielding error allowed a second run to score.
The 'Cats got one of the runs back in the bottom stanza to make the score 2-1. Dominican regained a two run lead in the third as Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) reached on a fielder's choice which allowed a run to come home and increase the lead to 3-1.
Two runs in the fourth and one in the sixth saw Wilmington take a 4-3 advantage, but the Chargers offense came alive with a four-run seventh inning. Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) hit an RBI double to left center and Sadawske followed with an RBI single to left field. A fielding error later allowed Clark to reach base and two runs to score to put the Chargers ahead 7-4. Wilmington added two runs in the bottom of the ninth for the final 7-6 Charger victory.
Pitcher Anthony Pastrana (Queens, NY) picked up the win (1-2) in six innings of work, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits. Justin Moore* (Wantagh, NY) picked up his first save of the season in three innings, allowing two runs on six hits.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they host Nyack College in CACC action in a double-header to be played at Provident Bank Park.
