BASEBALL DROPS TWO TO DOWLING COLLEGE
Brookhaven, NY (3/16/12) The Dominican College baseball team dropped a non-conference double-header to host, Dowling College, this afternoon in games played at Golden Lions Field. With the losses, Dominican falls to 2-10 on the season while Dowling improves to 8-7 overall.

Game One: Both team had four hits in game one action, but a four run fourth inning and two more runs in the fifth gave the Golden Lions the 6-0 victory. Dowling's pitcher tallied 14 strikeouts in the game.
Charger starter Ryan Calby (Huntington Station, NY) suffered the loss (0-1), allowing six runs (three earned) on four hits.
Game Two: The Chargers got on the board first in the night cap with a run in the second inning as catcher Dallan Vecchio (Boca Raton, FL) led off the inning with a double to right center field and moved to third on the sacrifice bunt by Austin Holzknecht (Coral Springs, FL). Vecchio would later score on a wild pitch.
DC added a run in the top of the seventh as Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, FL) got a one out walk and moved to third on a sacrifice. Outfielder Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) doubled to right center field to pick up the RBI and give Dominican a 2-0 lead.
Dowling got both runs back in the bottom stanza to tie the game and scored the game winning run in the ninth for the 3-2 victory.
Sal Sanquini (Levittown, NY) took the loss (1-2), allowing one run on two hits in the ninth. Caleb Whiteley (San Antonio, TX) went six innings in the no decision, scattering three hits.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow when they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on the road with a double-header against Wilmington College.
