CHARGERS SUFFER TWO TOUGH NON-CONFERENCE LOSSES
Chester, NY (3/11/12) The Dominican College baseball team fell to 1-8 o the season after losing two tough non-conference games today played at the Rock Sports Park. The Chargers fell to Saint Anselm College, 8-6 in ten innings and lost to Merrimack College, 4-2.

Game One: The Hawks to a 2-0 lead in the first, but Dominican got a run back in the bottom stanza as left fielder Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) doubled down the left field line and scored on the single down the left field line by Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY). St. Anselm regained a two run lead in the third, but the Chargers cut the lead to 3-2 as Blake hit his second double of the game and Camardella picked up his second RBI with a single to center field.
The Hawks added to the lead with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to go up, 6-2 and the Chargers answered with a four-run seventh inning to tie the score at 6-6. Centerfielder Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) had an RBI single up-the-middle and Blake later picked up his third hit of the game with a three-run blast over the left field fence.
St. Anselm pulled ahead with two runs in the top of the tenth for the 8-6 victory.
Blake and Camardella each collected three hits in the loss.
Reliver Nicholas Kevlin (Conway, NH) took the loss (0-1) in 1 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on two hits.
Game Two: The Warriors scored the first two runs of the game in the third inning for a 2-0 lead and would hold that lead until Dominican struck for two runs in the top half of the eighth inning. Freshman Robert Alonso (Kingston, NY) led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a failed pick-off attempt. He moved to third on the single through the right side by Blake and both runs came in to score on the double to left field by Camardella to make the score 2-2.
MC got the two runs back in the bottom of the eighth for the 4-2 victory.
Sal Sanquini (Levittown, NY) suffered the loss (0-1) in two innings of work, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and recording five strikeouts.
Dominican returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to non-conference opponent, Queens College.
