ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY DEFEATS CHARGERS BASEBALL
Miami Gardens, FL (3/1/12) The Dominican College baseball team wrapped up the three game non-conference series with host, St. Thomas University, with a 13-5 loss this evening in a game played at Esposito Stadium. This game concludes the Chargers spring break trip to Florida.

DC took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second as Christopher Gonzalez (Bronx, NY) led off the inning with a walk and Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) reached base on a fielding error. A second fielding error allowed Dallan Vecchio (Boca Raton, FL) reach and both runs scored.
The Panthers got a run back in the bottom of the third, but the Chargers answered back with two runs in the top of the fifth. Tyler Clark (Cheshire, CT) led of the inning with a single to centerfield and advanced to second on a groundout. A walk to Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) put two runners on and Robert Alonoso (Kingston, NY) got on base on a fielder's choice. Outfielder Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) delivered a two run double to right field to go ahead 4-1.
St. Thomas University exploded for 12 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to claim a 13-4 advantage. Dominican got a run back in the eighth for the final 13-5 loss.
DC now stands at 1-3 overall on the season.
Dominican returns to action on March 9th when they travel to non-conference opponent, C.W. Post. Game time is set for 3pm.
