BLEVINS ADDED TO CHARGERS BASEBALL STAFF
Orangeburg, NY (2/15/12) Dominican College head baseball coach, Rick Giannetti, has announced the hiring of Bobby Blevins, Jr, as the team's new pitching coach. Blevins comes to Dominican after spending last season as a pitcher for the Rockland County Boulders in the Can-Am League.
Orangeburg, NY (2/15/12) Dominican College head baseball coach, Rick Giannetti, has announced the hiring of Bobby Blevins, Jr, as the team's new pitching coach. Blevins comes to Dominican after spending last season as a pitcher for the Rockland County Boulders in the Can-Am League.
"We are very fortunate to have Bobby come on board with us at this time," said Giannetti. "He has a great deal of experience that he will be able to pass on to our pitchers."
In 2011, Blevins was a right-handed pitcher for the Boulders and led the Can-Am League in complete games and finished second in the league in innings pitched. He also spent time conducted private pitching lessons and baseball clinics.
"The pitchers should benefit greatly with having him join our staff," Giannetti stated.
Prior to his stint with the Boulders, Blevins spent four years in the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization. He was selected by the Dodgers in the 13th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft and made his professional debut with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League where he was named Pitcher of the Year. In his time with the Dodgers, he was ranked as one of the Top 50 Prospects and in 2010 he made appearances in Single A, AA and AAA.
Blevins spent his collegiate career with Division I LeMoyne College where he earned a BS in Business Administration and Leadership. He was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year in 2004 and was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-Americian Team. In 2006, was was a First Team All-MAAC selection and had a program best 95 strikeouts in 98 innings. In four years as a Dolphin, he compiled a career record of 32-13 and finished with a 3.17 ERA.
Blevins, a native of Briarcliff Manor, NY, was a two sport standout at Briarcliff High School.
