Fort Lauderdale, FL (3/15/09) The Dominican College baseball team wrapped up the Florida trip with a 7-6 non-conference victory over the University of New Haven this afternoon at the Santaluces Sportsplex.
Fort Lauderdale, FL (3/15/09) The Dominican College baseball team wrapped up the Florida trip with a 7-6 non-conference victory over the University of New Haven this afternoon at the Santaluces Sportsplex.
Junior Tommy Maloney (Massapequa Park, NY) and Michael Munoz (Bronx, NY) each had two hits in the game, while Maloney and Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ) each had 2 RBI's.
DC was able to take a 4-1 lead going inot the bottom of the third when UNH struck four four runs to take a 5-4 lead. Dominican rallied for two runs in the fourth and added a run in the sxith to go up 7-5. UNH crossed the plate in the bottom of the eighth as DC hung on for the 7-6 victory.
Sophomore Tom Kahl (Bay Shore, NY) picked up the win, allowing five runs on nine hits and three strikeouts. Right-handed pitcher Dominick Ruscitti (Chester, NY) went three innings in relief, allowing one run on one hit and freshman Justim Moore (Wantagh, NY) pitched a hitless ninth with two strikeouts.
With the win Dominican improves to 5-3 overall.
DC is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Queens College in non-conference game, slated to begin at 3:30 pm.
