MALONEY, MONDESIR NAMED TO THE 2008 ABCA/RAWLINGS DIVISION II NORTHEAST REGIONAL BASEBALL TEAM

Easton, MA (5/19/08) Dominican College baseball players, Tommy Maloney and Michael Mondesir have been named to the 2008 ABCA/Rawlings Division II Northeast Regional Baseball Second Team as was announced by Patrick Boen, Head Baseball Coach at Stonehill College and the Northeast Regional chair of the ABCA Division II All-America Committee.

Maloney, a sophomore first basemen out of Massapequa Park, NY, finished second on the team with a .324 average, in hits (58), tied for first in doubles (14) and led the team with three home runs, 45 RBIs and 83 total bases.  He also had a .984 fielding percentage to lead all starters and led the team with a .464 slugging percentage.  He led the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in RBIs, was in the top five in doubles and was twelfth in doubles.  Maloney was also recently named to the All-CACC First Team and the 2008 Daktronics Baseball All-Northeast Region Second Team.

Mondesir, a right handed pitcher from Jamaica, NY, has a 1.12 ERA this season.  He has a 6-2 record on the season, including two consecutive shut out victories to wrap up the regular season.  He has 55 strikeouts in 56.0 innings pitched and opponents hit just .169 against him.

The Chargers finished the season with a 28-25 overall record and a 18-9 CACC record.  Dominican received the third seed in the CACC Tournament and made to the Championship Game where they lost to #2 Caldwell College.
